Yousif Matti

Yousif Matti is a Partner and joint founder of Matti Lamb & Associates, the boutique South Australian firm he set up with Fraser Lamb in 2020. He acts for separating couples and parents, for families who want their affairs in order through a will, and for people who have been asked to guarantee someone else’s loan. He was admitted in 2013 and works from the firm’s office at Hawthorn, in Adelaide’s inner south.

Much of Yousif’s practice is family law, where he helps people through both the property and parenting sides of a separation. With a young family of his own, he understands what is at stake when arrangements for children are being worked out. He also has a strong interest in wills and estates, helping people plan ahead so their assets pass the way they intend.

Yousif gives independent legal advice to guarantors, meaning people who agree to repay a loan if the borrower cannot. He also continues to act in credit repair, challenging credit report listings he considers were recorded unlawfully under the National Credit Reporting Code of Conduct and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

How Yousif Works with Clients

Yousif works alongside the other professionals involved in a property purchase, including mortgage brokers, financial advisers and real estate agents. The point is to keep the legal side of a transaction moving at the same pace as the finance and the sale. That coordination matters most when a loan approval is being held up by something sitting on a credit file, because both problems can then be handled together rather than one after the other.

In family law, he acts in both property and parenting matters. The firm’s published service scope across the areas Yousif practises in covers:

  • Credit repair: complaints to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority, debt negotiation, statute barred debts, and defaults and overdue accounts recorded on a credit report
  • Family law: divorce applications, property settlements and consent orders, children’s matters and parenting arrangements, child support and spousal maintenance, and binding financial agreements

If you have separated and need to sort out property or arrangements for your children, want a will prepared, or have been asked to guarantee a loan, Yousif can talk through where you stand and what the next step involves. Away from the office, he spends time with family and friends, watches sport and enjoys Arabic food. You can email him at [email protected], call the office on 08 8155 5322, or get in touch to arrange a time to speak.
